Microsystems was established in 2003. Our headquarters and main manufacturing facility is based in the UK, about 30min drive from both Manchester and Liverpool airports.
Since our formation, Microsystems has focussed on ultra-precision micro-machining and micro-moulding. The majority of our customers are in the medical and pharmaceutical markets. We also operate in other markets that require close tolerance polymer microparts, polymer optics, or ultra-precision machined components.
Investment in the latest equipment
Microsystems has invested in the latest equipment for high accuracy machining, including micro-EDM, micro-wire erosion, 5-axis micro-milling, micro-pin-grinding and super-precision turning. All machining and moulding is carried out in a clean, temperature controlled environment. Mould design and moulding are supported where appropriate by full 3D Moldflow.
Research and development
As part of our commitment to maintain our position at the cutting edge of manufacturing developments, Microsystems is involved in various projects with research institutes in the UK and overseas. This includes collaborative R&D work in national and European projects on micro-machining and micro-manufacturing.
Global business, partners in Europe and Asia
We are part of a global business network and we work with business partners in other parts of Europe and in Asia for specialist manufacturing services and mass production. Our recent acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Singapore is part of our global business strategy.
Microsystems manufactures and delivers highly accurate micro-fluidic moulds and the essential micro-fluidic parts for the cartridge platform. Microsystems has a long lasting provider track record in medical device micro-fluidic component device industry.
Philip Tipler (Technical Sales Manager)
Philip is a time-served mechanical engineer and has 25 years of experience in mould manufacturing, polymer processing, technical sales & marketing. He is currently responsible (5 years) for the technical sales account management with existing and new customer base. Ensuring projects and sales targets meet within budget in conjunction with Microsystems future business development.
Geoff Payne (Design Manager)
Geoff has 15 years of experience of tool design, R&D, FEA polymer evaluation and component design optimisation with extensive knowledge of the medical, pharmaceutical and lens markets enabling Microsystems to provide innovative and unique solutions. He is currently responsible for the management and technical success of challenging medical device projects on behalf of European and Global customers.
Alisdair Watson (Managing Director Optimold)
Alisdair has 25 years of experience in plastic injection moulding, of which 10 years within an ISO-13485 environment. During this time he held roles in Production, Quality and Plant Management. Market segments supplied have included medical devices such as injectors, inhalers and also medical diagnostics. He is currently responsible for the management and development of Optimold Limited.
